Volunteering with a Scout group as a leader or casual helper is just as rewarding for an adult as it is for Scouts. You'll face all the same challenges as our young people but with more responsbility. It's not unheard of to have a leader abseling off a large climbing tower with all their Scouts below shouting encouragement. Scouts often find themselves overcoming personal challenges and that sense of achievement is passed onto the Leaders working with them.
You don't need to have any experience of working with young people to be a Scout leader as full training is given. Some of the training modules can be completed online and others involve attending training sessions. You may find however you have plenty of skills to offer Scouting. You'll also gain a huge amount of personal experience in whatever activities and roles you partake in many of which look great on a CV and make excellent talking points for job interviews. Alternatively you can pursue one of your favourite hobbies or organise a sporting even you've always wanted to try.
You could help local young people learn #SkillsForLife
The roles available depend on the number of members a Scout group has. As a small but growing Scout group we are looking for volunteers to take on any role that would suite them.
You can Contact Us for more information and to have any questions answered or to discuss a particular area of interest to you. If you are ready to join now then you can complete the Waiting List Form and we'll be in touch.
If you want to come along and meet some of the other leaders first and have a face to face discussion about joining us then please get in touch and we can make arrangements to meet you on a section night.
